Jim-----
The Standard Motor Parts TS-6 sending unit has been reported to provide proper calibration. However, I have no personal experience with this unit.
Lectric Limited has a line of reproduction temp senders that will, reportedly, provide proper calibration. Once again, I have no experience with these.
An NOS GM #1513321 will provide proper calibration. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 63 temp sending unit
I just ordered a unit for my 1964 from LIC; the sender looks correct (has the AC Delco markings, etc) and includes a short connector which will claims to calibrate the sender (you can hook up the connector at the sender or hide under the dash at the gauge). I plan to install in the next week, I will post an update. Also, I have been told to not use teflon sealant on the threads as it will minimize the ground and cause problems.- Top

Chuck-----
You've been told correctly regarding Teflon tape or sealant. You don't want to use either. Once-upon-a-time I did and it caused me problems that took me awhile to figure out.
The threads on the temp sender and the ones factory-tapped in the heads or intake manifold are NPTF, otherwise known as "Dryseal", and require no sealer or Teflon tape.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 63 temp sending unit
Joe, I have not had much luck with the TS-6 or the TS-8 as far as calibation goes. Course that's just me. In fact none of the over the counter temp senders I have bought have been on the money. Don't know about the repros as never tried one. John- Top

Re: 63 temp sending unit
Jim, I see no one mentioned that Fred Olivia from FL is a good source of temp senders. I am sure someone here can post his email or address. I understand though that he is pretty backed up as like a lot of us he is a one man operation. John- Top
