    Bummed at Bloomington...

Don't get me wrong, the show itself was great (I could have lived without the T-storms and tornado warnings), the show cars were absolutely fantastic, vendors, swapmeet, etc. but.....

I went there to buy a midyear convertible and was very disappointed in the cars for sale and very surprised at the prices. Midyear convt SB drivers were getting upper 20's and low 30's in the auction and many of these had cheap aftermarket front ends and other "issues". The prices at auction and sale corral on midyear convertibles reminded me of ProTeam's website. Proteam, Mershons, & CorvetteWorld bought many of the cars I was interested in, and paid more than I would have (obviously) even before the auction premiums, so these cars are going to be sky high when they sell them. I was using this show as a reality check on prices and from what I see, midyear prices are sky-high just like they are at the dealers.

Any comments, words of wisdom, or are there some shows coming up which are more "buyer-friendly"?

I guess I need to be patient, keep looking, and perhaps adjust my midyear budget AGAIN. Or maybe I should just paint a mural of a '67 convertible on the side of my '73 Coupe.

I'm also bummed that I passed up the discussion board meeting to watch overpriced cars go thru the auction.

Jack, Just keep that 73. You got a rare one year only style there, kind of like the 63 split window.

      Look at the bright side...

"Man does not live by discussion board alone". I wish I had the time to go to Bloomington. The cars may not have been perfect, and they may have been overpriced, but in your own words, it was a reality check of what Corvettes are going for in the Corvette world. But when you consider buying a midyear in the future, you can use the Bloomington experience to help evaluate what is a good car and what is not. I envy anyone with that advantage.

Bloomington is meant to separate you from your money, nothing else. In my opinion, the auction is rigged. Bloomington itself is interested in only one thing - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. No one from NCRS should show there as that leads to some credibility of their process. Even show participants are required to pay to attend on Thursday, how low can you go. Well, how about the secured trailers that were parked in a flood area and then no help to get out when they were stuck. I feel sorry for the chassis judges that had to work in the mud on Sunday. Next year send money and stay home and the owners of Bloomington will be happy. Oh, and I thought NCRS had trademarked "Heritage Award"?

heard a rumor that the dealers buy these cars from each other at the auctions just to drive up prices..then they flip them back with no money changing hands. its just a rumor...........

            @#%&#@!##@%$^!!! Pro Team

This all makes perfect sense. I have been looking for a mid-year now for quite a while. I have even been tempted by some at Pro-Team. I had been conversing with Pro-team via email about one car in particular - - read his response: (all i did was ask if the engine was original)

Mark; No idea, as we did not check the trans or rear end-- The block is decked per our advert--so who knows--I don't! And, for under $20,000.00, I do not care and most entry level buyers don't either. This car will be sold soon as we have several people playing now, and I'm done talking about this car-

            Terry Michaelis, Pres. ProTeam

Talk about putting a bad taste in my mouth.....i'll keep scouring the trades and drive line - maybe my baby is out there somewhere!!!

            Signed, Never a Pro-Team Buyer --- EVER!

Without taking nut off to get closer look, my original appears to be black.
