I'm taking our 67 back "To The Day". We used to Tow a Ski Boat and travel with Four Kids in our Coupe. I trying to locate the Hitch that was made by "Valley". It had the Bar that went under the car and bolted to the Spring Mount. Anyone have one for Sale? Thanks, Al W.

Re: Valley Trailer Hitch
Allan, I used to have that exact hitch on my 66 BB. Towed a heavy enclosed trailer with that setup. We had to remove the spare tire tub as I recall. Never saw another Corvette with that hitch on. Sure did see a lot of butcher job hitches on the midyears. Ones where they drilled two hole on each bumper. Then mounted a u shaped hitch between the two bumpers. I used to cringe when I saw those.
Sorry I have no clue who would have that hitch. I am sure you could fabricate it if you had something to go by. It was all chrome plated. Even the bar going to the differential. The hitch may have bought from JC Whitney but that is just a guess. John- Top

Cringe away, John
Was great for light loads. Used to pull a small hydroplane with it.
Here it is on the car:
We used to do a lot of things with these cars, when it was your only car.
Thinking about getting it rechromed, and put back on for judging.

Re: Cringe away, John
Jerry, That was neat. Nice picture. What's the logo on the bolt heads??? Just kiddin.
When I was a kid I drove a Corvette every day. The front ends used to slide pretty easy in the snow at high speeds so we put studded winter treads on all 4 wheels. One time we were pulling my enclosed trailer with the 66BB from Buffalo, NY in deep snow. Never forget the damn trailer pushed me into the guard rails only 10 miles from home ripping off the LF fender. DIdn't even stop in the deep snow-just kept on truckin and laughin. If we could only go back in time. John- Top

Re: Jerry: Badger Pass, Yosemite?
Gary,
Dodge Ridge in Tuolumne County, CA. 45 minutes from Sonora.
Here is the reason for the hitch in the late 60's:
Guess I'm getting a little off topic, but it does look like a Shark.

Re: Cringe away"allen"
Allen/ you should have seen the faces when I go to NCRS meets and park next to trailer queens , they give me looks like I'm crazy and what am I doing here! I just love it and say I'm pulling a trailer queen my self. This is when we go to old trailer shows.

Re: Valley Trailer Hitch
Allan the one I bought for my 64 in 1969 bolted to the rear spring mount, but had a pull pin it that could be removed so you could drop the lengthy piece coming from the rear spring mount to lower the spare tire tub to remove the spare. Some things one does seem to hold on to for what ever reason. I bought some rear spring things that attach to leaf springs to stiffen them up and used them when I towed a U-Haul trailor from San Diego to Dallas with my 64 convertible. It was an uneventable trip.- Top
