56 or 57 It's a 57 Thanks; Now eng. info.

    Thanks for the help identifying the 57. The only thing missing were the holes in the coves for the emblems. The body was in primer and perhaps they got filled in during the process.

    All the engine #'s point to a 245hp powerglide...except for a couple that are confusing.

    Intake 3739653
    Pad F926FG 5840
    Block 3731548
    Pass. side casting date ? 1246 ?

    What does the pass. side casting date 1246 mean? Jan. 24,1956? In a 57 car?
    How about the 5840 on the eng. pad.

    Larry, Believe the I246...

    ...is (I -Alpha) September 24, 1956.
    F926 = September 26 Engine Assy.
    5840 is likely an added engine rebuilders ID stamp

      And in addition...

      ...only the fuel injected '57's had ANY stuff in the cove (when they came from the factory) so, I doubt your non existent holes were filled. Best, Dennis
