    Selling

At the risk of committing heresy I am considering selling my 65 small block roadster. This is not an ad - but I would like some suggestions as to the best way to market it if I choose to sell. I don't think putting it on Ebay is the answer.

what suggestions - I've thought about ad in Driveline and my local NCRS chapter newsletter - any other suggestions other than calling Terry M. and giving it away ?

    thanks,

    Noel Kendall

    Re: Selling

Ebabes is an excellant way to advertise your car. Maybe you will not sell it there, but the cheapest advertising out there. The Driveline is an another good venue, and it is free. The more exposure, the quicker it will sell.

Your timing is not real good to sell the car right now. Fall and winter are not the time when most people are looking.

    Good luck

It's hard to beat the exposure of ebay. If your car is a good quality car and it's priced on the money............ it WILL sell there. JMO.

I have always assumed that spring is the best time to sell a car, especially a convertible.

Kelly, depending on what part of the country you live in, late winter to early spring is the best time to start advertising. Once the weather begins to warm, the thoughts of riding in a Corvette with the wind blowing throught your hair start wandering thru ones' mind.

I get NCRS members really p+ssed and mad at me for saying take it to an Auction ,don't try selling it to a Corvette fanatic , you'll get more money or what you wont //with no BSing and tire kickers , when they say sold // it gone, it's over, with no one telling you it's missing this and that while saying it has the wrong bolt marking on the rear end cover!
I've sold Corvettes 54-55-57's and my long owned 67 last year got top dollar , never sold a Corvette to a Corvette owner.
OK now I'll get hate mail.

I have sold a few cars on EBAY and it is a very good venue to get your car looked at by a large number of potential buyers.
The key to a successful EBAY sale is to be totally honest in the listing and to post as many pictures as possible.
And definately point out all positive negative things about the car no matter how small you think they are.
                Good Luck.

Well, where I live you might get two weeks of winter, and not always in a row. Usually you get one week in January and another week in February and that is pretty much it. We have what we call summer one and summer two here. Got to love it just bout year round driving and riding ones convertible or Harley here. Summer one the temps usually run in the upper seventies and eighties with low humidity and summer two is ninety + with a least 100% humidity. Oh yeah summer two is not much fun, you might say it is our winter.

I agree with Roy. But I've found very qualified Buyers thru Hemmings. Also I'd wait till after 4th quarter Bonuses come out. If they do this year. Why all the auctions in Arz. in Jan 08 etc. Those Corp. Hedge funds boys have $ burnin hole in their pocket. Still the Hemmings bible subscribers tend to be liquid and legit.

                      Re: Selling

I think the Driveline gives you unbelievable bang for free. Why do you think folks(me included) vent here when its a day or 2 (or month late)? With that said I have also purchased 2 unbelievable convertibles off of ebay. Why? Because the sellers took ample clear pictures and either answered in the auction or was willing to answer every question I had. In both instances the car was sold instantly with the seller removing the car from auction in one case. Be willing to answer questions by phone and or email though. Do the same and you will be successful. If you live in a larger area even a local classified will give you results but wouldn't be my first choice due to cost and scope. I have never bought a corvette at a live auction although I have other cars. I guess imho it's that the purchase of a corvette is too cerebral to be rushed.
Any time of the year is good to sell it. I live in Florida and I haven't had my cars out much since late May. Forget about working on them for more then 10 minutes here either until November. The point is that somewhere its convertible weather always and there is bound to be someone looking. In fact one of Mecum's most successful auctions is in Orlando in January. Good Luck!

It's 'spring' in Australia and New Zealand! NCRS is down under too... With eBay you get world wide coverage.
