    1965 grounding straps - Question - Help!

    Hi,
Does anyone have a picture or a clear description of where the grounding strap goes that is near the sill plate or the rocker molding on the left side of the car?
    Thanks

    Jerry,
I don't have a picture, but perhaps I can describe in words how it's installed.

The strap is approximately 5 inches long. One end has a ring terminal on it, while the other end has a clip type terminal. The clip end is fastened to the bird cage near the bottom where the metal makes a 90 degree bend. This will be almost directly under the body mounting bolt. I can't tell how it is attached. Perhaps it is spot welded, or just an interference fit. (No bolt is used).

The ring terminal end is secured to the frame/body mount bracket, through a hole that is threaded for a self-tapping style bolt. This is also pretty much under the body mounting bolt near the corner of the splash shield.

I hope that I've done an adequate job of explaining.

    Good luck, with your '65.

    Regards,
    Gene

Here is a pic on my restored '65. I assume this is correct but can not confirm - maybe others can comment.

            Rob,
I even found the original screw still in the metal...Everything worked fine. Thanks again.
