I know they were used on 73 Corvettes and wished I could sell all I got at $1000. each. Oh they are not for sale I just bought them up for the fun of finding them but if they go up a little more I may change my mind.

1963 was supposed to have used wing nut GM #117204. This may or may not have been the same as earlier which I believe was a cast-type nut rather than the heavy stamped steel type used from 1964-72. However, I'm just guessing here; I have no direct knowledge of the 63 nut. From what I can tell, the 117204 was never a SERVICE-available piece.

            Rob------

As far as Corvettes go, they are applicable to most 66-72 big blocks (but not originally used for 66-E67) and most 68-72 small blocks. 67-69 L-88 and 70-72 LT-1 used the CV-746C. The CV-736C replaced the CV-691 used for most 66-E67 big block applications.

The CV-736C was also used on many Chevrolets of the 67-72 period.

The CV-736C is also a SERVICE valve for many 1968 through 1976 Ford products. In fact, there are more Ford applications than there are Chevrolet and Corvette. However, I don't think that the CV-736C was used in PRODUCTION on the Ford applications.

Not 1973 for the CV-736C. The CV-736C was not used on any Chevrolet application after 1972. For 1973, the CV-769C was used for L-48 and LS-4. The CV-746C was used for L-82. Configuration-wise, the CV-736C, CV-746C, and CV-769C are very similar, though. The difference is in the "internals" and, of course, the stamped-in type designation. The CV-746C is dyed a purple color for identification. If I recall correctly, the CV-769C might be dyed brown, but I'm not sure about that.

                Thanks Joe,

I will post a picture of the wing nut I have on my 63 and see what everyone thinks. The chrome plating is gone and I always wondered if it could be correct. It's cast like you say and small compared to the 64-up part.

The judging manual and the NCRS reserach is in question again for 1973 corvettes it reads CV-736C and has been on lots of 73's.

I suppose they could have been used. However, if so, it's contrary to what's specified in the AIM, contrary to what's contained in GM parts information, and contrary to Delco information.
