    windshield source

Where would be a good source for a dated windshield for my 69?

I know there are a few suppliers out there but are some better than others or are they all made at the same place? My door glass and back glass are tinted so how should the windshield be tinted...just the top or the whole thing and I assume that it should be green like the rest of the glass, right?

    Thanks,
    Greg Linton

An excellent source is Auto City Classic Inc. in Isanti, MN.
They can be reached at 800 828-2212.

Thanks guys I'll check out each of them.

So should the windshield be fully tinted or just the top portion? Should it be the same tint of green as the door glass or can it off a bit?

Just want to make sure that I order the right one.

The windshield is banded but the other glass is all tinted. The banding on the all reproduction glass, that I have seen, is not quite the same as originals and will take a minor point hit.

Greg ---- Windshields are not fully tinted glass, even today. (If I'm wrong, would someone please correct me.) They have a tinted strip at the top. According to a recent thread, reporductions may be dicernable by experienced judges. Good luck with your '69.

              Thanks Dick.

Since I'm on the topic of glass this week I have a question for you. My door glass is dated Dec 68 and Jan 69 for a Jan 31-69 built car but the back window is July 68. It's just within the 6 month window but I find it odd that it is so far out compared to the other parts on the car which are generally one to two months ahead of the build date. Have you see the back window be so far out before or is this typical...just currious.

I have seen glass dated all over the board. Some cars it is real close and some cars, such as yours, it is scattered

                  Greg -

Don't know about C3's, but on midyears, the "window" for glass dating is up to 12 months, as it was made in batches (only exception to the six-month rule other than the 783 intake on 67's).
