New mid-year gas tank; which vendor?

When buying a new 20 gallon gas tank with the O.L. Anderson logo for a mid-year is there any better option in terms of correctness than Quanta Products? Or any vendor with a better price than the $219 +$42 S&H that Quanta gets?

    Thanks,

    Gary

    Gary-----

Any tank with the O.L. Anderson logo originates from Quanta, whether or not they are the actual sales point. Quanta, which does not actually manufacture gas tanks, is the only one licensed to use the logo. So, they order a batch of tanks from a fuel tank manufacturer and have the logo embossed on their order. I believe that most of the tanks are actually manufactured by Superior Industries in Canada.

Actually, the logo is a "minor incentive" to go with the Quanta tank; no one can actually see it after it's installed in the car with the spare tire carrier also installed. The main reason to go with their tanks is that they also reproduce other configurational features of the 63-68 tanks which can be seen. Actually, I don't think that the $219 price is so bad; the GM tanks, which were not of correct configuration when last available, cost more than that. I think that Superior manufactured the GM tanks, too, after O.L. Anderson went out of business.

One down-side: the Quanta tanks for 63-E69 applications do not include an integral pressure-vacuum valve. All GM SERVICE tanks for 63-E69 applications which were available since the early 70's as well as most aftermarket replacement tanks for 63-E69 Corvettes DID INCLUDE an integral pressure vacuum valve. These tanks can be used with a sealed type cap (like all 70-74 Corvettes). The advantage is that fuel vapors cannot easily waft into the cockpit as they can when venting takes place at the cap. Of course, for judging purposes, one can easily install the correct cap and for "on-the-road", go with a sealed cap. The best of all worlds. But, one cannot get it if one goes with a "100% correct" Quanta reproduction of a 1963-E69 tank.

      Hello All
I bought a new tank for my 68 with the AO smith logo and the logo was not the same size as the one on my original tank. I was a little upset that I paid extra to get the logo but it was obviously not the same! I am sorry but I do not remember if I ordered theis directly from Quanta or from another supplier. If some one wants to know I can try to dig it up. Just FYI

I pulled my original 73 coupe tank and it does NOT have an Anderson logo anywhere. I checked the whole tank several times. I know this is the original tank since I bought the car new and never had any service done in that area and no accidents.

So what gives with this anderson logo?

Unless things have changed recently, my recollection is the Anderson logo applied to reproduction gas tanks is stamped 90-degrees out from that of original tanks....

            Jack,
My real question is, why does everyone think that the Anderson logo is on every ORIGINAL tank when my ORIGINAL tank does NOT have this logo anywhere?

If the logo was all that was done in that operation at the factory yours just slid by.I have removed ten 73 tanks and they all had the logo. The logo costs about $100. more for a 73 and the tanks are both made in Canada. For something that is hidden when installed and tanks that appear the same one has a choice to make.

                90-degrees off

                Jack,

I'm know there is something in the archives that supports your recollection, which parallels mine.
