    Patrick Hulst

Just want to thank you!! I was thinking of taking the power brake booster off of my 72 to clean up and re-paint. Well after reading your response from May 2006 I am going to figure out how to clean up and paint with it on the car! I would have never thought it was that big of a pain.
    Thanks
    Jeff

Patrick I guess it is considered more difficult by some. I removed the power brake booster from my 70 with factory air only to repaint the unit due to brake fluid damage due to a leaking from the rear of the master cylinder. Although the retaining nuts do not spin off after the initial loosening, I contemplated replacing them with nuts that would not have a friction fit. Did not, it just takes more time to reuse the originals. I used an old discarded pillow, big one, across the door sill for comfort, removed the air conditioning ducting, and applied a lot of patience and did not remove/install all nuts at once. I think it would be a lot of work to refinish the complete booster while it is still in the car. Having a 72 with removable side louvers for access to paint from the left fender might help.
