1973 non tilt/tele hub PN question

Does anyone have the GM part number for the hub used on the steering column just behind the horn button on a car without tilt/tele. My assembly manual lists the tilt/tel hub PN only. Also how do you remove the horn button and hub for maintenance? Thanks

    Charles-----

The non tilt/tele column hub was GM #3937896. However, it's long-since GM-discontinued without supercession.

      Addendum

      Charles----

The horn button is removed by simply pulling it off. It's a "snap fit" into the horn contact assembly.

The hub is another matter. First, the horn contact assembly and associated parts have to be removed. Next, remove the steering wheel by removing the phillips head screws. Then, you need a good solid steering wheel puller (not a light duty "el cheapo") to remove the hub. They can be a "bear".

        Re: Addendum

Joe --Thanks. Check, my $3.00 parts bin special puller with multiple screws, won't work then. As far as the horn button goes the motion would be straight back and no twisting or pushing in and twisting. I don't want to damage the button or related attaching platform.

          Horn Button

          Charles

I only pull only on one side of the horn button with two or three fingers straight back.
You could try the puller you have as sometimes they come off easy and other times they are a bear as Joe said.

Got it-thanks. Late night in the garage and the brain wasn't working. It popped right off-now onto the hub.
