    C-3, wiper arms

1970 Corvette wiper arms. Are these unique to Corvette or can they be found on same era passenger cars?

    Thanks,
    Scott

Unique to Corvette and at this time no one is reproducing the correct replacements. There are three style arms from 1968 to 1982 and the only ones repro'ed are for 1974-'82

What about the part the actual rubber blade mounts to? I know I have the wrong ones on my 70 and the door won't close all the way.

That's the blade holder... Trico originals from the era have a slightly different upper bridge geometry that what Trico sells today as service replacements. The service replacement blade holders CAN present mechanical interference and bind against the wiper arms (especially on the RH/passenger side where the washer tube jumps up/over the blade) resulting in the blade sitting too tall and hitting the bottom of the wiper door in its parked position.

You fix that by getting a set of factory original Trico 16-inch wiper blade holders and filling them with fresh rubber. PLUS, double check your adjustment of the wiper door. The link between the door and its vacuum actuator can is adjustable and it's this adjustment (in conjunction with the WSW motor microswitch and the physical position of the wiper door control valve) that define how far open the door swings, when the wiper motor starts upon wiper door opening, and when the wiper door begins to close when the wiper arms assume their 'park' position.

Your copy of the Chassis Service Manual gives a nice tutorial on how the system is supposed to operate. When the parts + adjustments are right, it'll work like a Swiss watch!
