Can a mere member dare to ask what selection process was used to find Vinnie Peters as the "Interim Restorer Editor"? I guess I would've guessed that Reba, who had served as either an "Associate" or "Assistant" Editor under Terry would have been a more direct choice. I realize that Vinnie wrote a number of columns as Chairman/President, but I also am told/realize that the meeting after the 2002 National in Monterey
was not exactly a "standing ovation" event.
vinnie , along with dipstick, did several restorers after john amgwert left and terry mc took over. he did a real good job then and i suspect the upcoming restorers will be a super improvement over what we've had from wayne.being out of the loop for some time. not real familiar with Vinnie's choice to serve as interim editor.mike
Bored members (board) are divided up into committees and one committee is the publications committee. They do the work of accepting, reviewing, interview and recommending a candidate to the board.
Interested parties respond to a request for proposal (RFP) that goes out to anyone interested. The RFP is a pretty ambitious document and requests all the sorts of knowledges, skills and abilities to permit the committee to make an informed judgement about the ability of the candidate to serve as editor...like have you done this before stuff.
The commitment expectations are high...travel, producing America's premier Corvette publication with 16,000 owners, and I suspect the pay is hardly commensurate with the scope of expectations. Afterall, its an RFP and therefore price competitive.
But to answer how the former editor was selected, the publications committee would have the insights and I suspect that group has taken on a new makeup since the former's selection. Having talked with TM on occassion and having been on the end of contracting out publications work, I can appreciate the scope of effort it takes to do a publication. I'm happy just writing articles for it.
