71/72 alt brace

Did the alt mounting change mid year 1971 to the head mt bracket,or did the change start on the 72 model

As far as I know, the small block alternator mounting change occurred with the outset of the 1972 model year. The cast bracket style mount was not used for the 1971 model year. HOWEVER, the cast-bracket style mount was used for other Chevrolet models prior to the 1972 model year. In fact, it was first used for other Chevrolet models, mostly some series 10-30 light trucks, for the 1969 model year.
