My tripower intake has a plug in the PVC hookup point. It looks like they cut off the end of the nipple and welded it shut. Does this press in or is it threaded in? I need to get the old nipple out and get a new one. Does anyone know were I can get a new one? Thanks, Josh

Re: 1968 L-71 PVC Nipple
Josh-----
In the original factory configuration the nipple you describe is pressed-in and spot welded. Some older GM SERVICE air cleaners contained multiple locations for the PCV nipples and loose nipples and plugs were supplied for press-fit by the installer. I don't think that the 3X2 air cleaner was ever supplied this way, though. The nipples were never a threaded connection.
GM never sold the nipples in SERVICE as a separate part (even though they were supplied loose with some of the SERVICE air cleaner assemblies I described above). You might try contacting the reproduction source for these air cleaners to see if they will sell you the nipple separately. I believe that either Vette Products of Michigan or Cranes Corvette reproduces these air cleaners. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Josh, I believe that you are talking about the nipple that {b}presses into the intake under the center carb. It is not available in reproduction that I can find, however I believe that you could fabricate one.Dick Whittington- Top

Holley carb or fuel line
Several years ago, Holley would sell carb parts alone. The nipple seems similar to the PCV nipple used on the 1970 and later Holley carbs - you could try their carb shop. If not, you could possibly fabricate one from an old forward fuel line nipple or cut off a nipple from the bottom of an old fuel pump.
