Hi Guys I was looking at a 1972 LT-1 and in looking through the Black Book info on the car I came across something called "Air Injection Reactor" to quote George Bush on the campaign trail..."Que es?" What is it? What does it do, is it something rare? Sorry to sound like such a newbie.... but I am.

Re: PS Control Valve Question
Chuck: I've been there done that and it will tighten up when running. I installed a new valve after rebuilding mine twice and found out something interesting. I did my work properly but made a mitake after it was installed on the car by using a grease gun to lube the fitting on the valve. This damaged my new o-ring seal and the valve leaked. I found this out when I saw the caution with the new valve that said waranty void if greased in this way. The tag was on the new valve and it still had a grease fitting?? David- Top

Re: PS Control Valve Question
I checked my GM repair manual today and the control valve ball is adjusted by tightening a threaded sleve down tight then backing it off to the 1st slot to install the keeper. The ball needs grease when rebuilt but can damage the valve and make it leak if added later and in excess. I see no way the ball could be affected by the pump running.Lyle

Re: PS Control Valve Question
The thing is that everyone thinks the ball is loose when it actually isn`t. If you turn the steering wheel without the engine running and no pressure on the system the ball seems loose because it is not acting against anything but the springs. It is designed to move back and fourth to operate the hydraulic valve. An unknowing person gets concerned when he sees this movement, but it is entirely normal.- Top
