    1968 L-36 Carb/Throttle linkage

In the car now is an old carb, that I am told is from a Buick. I bought a show restored Rochester #7028209 for the car (L-36, 4 speed with air). Mounted the carb and realized that the throttle linkage doesn't line up with the carb idle stop solenoid (anti-diesel solenoid).

My question: given that the car is a 4 speed with air, is the #7028209 the correct carb ? It seems that the carb for an automatic (#7028216) would actually fit the existing linkages better. If the # 7028209 is correct, then my linkages seem to be wrong, or missing a piece. Any suggestion on where to source the parts would be appreciated.

      Chuck,

You should purchase an Assembly Manual for your '68 to see the correct configuration for your carb/throttle set up. I have the L-36 with the turbo-hydramatic transmission and had to replace some of the related throttle parts. Paragon had what I needed at the time.

Please post a pic of the idle stop soleniod

        PLEEEEASE!!!

The idle stop solenoid bracket is like the holy grail for the 1968 and 69 Rochester carb cars. Please post some pics of the bracket from various angles.

        THANKS

        Mark

          Mark:

I believe the one I have is original to the car (not sure though). I will not be near the car until the Saturday of Thanksgiving week and can't take photos until then. I will take the pictures and post them.

          Terry:

Thanks for the input. I have the AIM and have looked through it. Looks like my linkage set-up isn't right and will have to be changed.

          Thanks to all.

          Chuck

            Decent pix are...

shown in MF Dobbins' Corvette Fact Book, '68-72 Edition, page 88 of my copy. By, 'decent' I mean sufficient to visually identify/judge the solenoid + bracket assy but not detailed enough to fabricate a perfect clone....

"Clones" are "on the way" for both the Rochester bracket and the 3X2 Holley bracket. They may even be available now.

Page 88 is a pic of a 69. MF Dobbins does show a 68 small block with a/c engine compartment but, once again no idle solenoid set-up to be found!
