    If you look close I'd bet it says 8.8 and not 88.
    8.8 is the metric "equivalent" of Grade 5 SAE strength.

        Are you sure the tappings in the waterpump casting are 1/4-20? 6mm is real close to 1/4. I'd be very surprised to find a metric head size bolt with inch size threads, ESPECIALLY a bolt that has a metric material grade rating (i.e. 8.8).
