    Re: trailering a 71 convertible s/b

A friend has the raised 2X10's in his trailer with the side door. Who'd he call when he had to transport his "dead" one home? Me!!!
And my floor is flat all the time, so any tread width fits......

My point is, if you are purchasing a trailer, a side door costs the same as a good winch and the winch makes the trailer more versatile.

In the photo below.... it was those "drag race starts" provided by my Cummins turbocharged engine that tore the doors off and slammed then against the back ramp the last time I challenged a Duromax.
Lost the chassis for the same reason beating a new "Power choke" last spring. Good thing I've got a Haulmark to keep the parts from being all over the highways. Have a good one!!!

Ralph ---- Like Don Steele mentioned, the 2x10s are a great idea to raise the car so your door will open with a trailer side door. Also, if your trailer has two axles, carry a 4x10x24" long piece of wood with a beveled end in case you have a flat tire, position the 4x10 so you can either pull or push the good tire up on it, then change the flat without using a jack. It's a lot safer.

When it comes to tie downs, cross them and use tie down points on the frame, not suspension. A little mor weight on the tongue is a lot better than too little weight. It prevents fish tailing, especially when the big rigs blow by.

Hope to see you at Kissimmee.
