It's getting cold here in The northeast. Yesterday I started the 60 to back it out of the garage to do some sheetrocking and I again find that the choke butterfly is stuck in the open position and doesn't set when I pump the pedal. If I manually manipulate the butterfly a loud click is heard and then the choke will close setting the high idle. I removed the choke housing and the butterfly does not bind.
A little backround info. Carb is rebuilt/restored. I have increased the spring tension by adjusting the choke housing but it still will not set unless I manually assist. I disassembled the choke assembly and cleaned it and then removed the plug and the piston and lightly honed the poston bore, and reassembled. Still no help. I changed out the whole choke assembly for a spare That I have and it still doesn't work. I have been chasing this thing for a few years now. Do these housings wharp possibly causing this binding condition? Anyone have any ideas...Anywhere I can get another choke assembly? I'm ready to swap this carb out for an aftermarket Holley!
