My '67 SB takes forever to start up--5 or 6 times of long cranking, then it starts and dies a few times. I pump the gas pedal a lot, and when it does crank for good, the choke is set correctly. It's very cold natured. I drive it weekly (weather permitting).
I was thinking about adding an electric fuel pump, like on my other old car, to get gasoline to the carb; it fires right up no matter how long its been sitting. All this 'grinding' can't be doing my starter any good. What are the pros and cons (besides judging? Can I run it through the mechanical fuel pump, like on the other car (I just use the electric pump on it to get gas to the carb, then shut it off). Brands? Fuel pressure? Where to install? Thanks.
