67 C-2 spare tire

I dropped the spare tire on my 67 C-2 today, I found a new blackwall tire. I wonder if anyone can tell me more about it from the description on it. Year etc. Around the side wall it say "12 73-423 AA-15" then a space, "8.15X15 replaces 7.10-15" space," 4 ply rating 2 ply" space, "Made in the USA" space, "US Rubber in a circle"space, "US ROYAL" space, "Safety 1 in a shield". All this is on the sidewall. Comments? Dale

The white lettering date inside was March 24 1967. March 30th build date.Dale

Dave, The white date of manufacture lettering was it stamped on the tub, lid or both? I have been restoring 1963-7 tire tubs and lids and found about 25% of the tub a number of the tubs have dates. The number of dated lids is 10%.

My findings have agreeded with what Scott is finding. Most do not have ink stamped dates. My theory is that at the original supplier of the lids and tubs were stacked and the top one was ink stamped for identification. This is similar to the pallets of fuel tanks where the top corner was stenciled for identification.

Scott and Gene, The bottom has the date March 24th 1967(hard to read lots of excess white ink). The tub its self has a blob of white ink which is unreadable. Looks like the tub was stamped with a freshly inked stamp and then the bottom. Send me your email address's and I will email pictures. Dale
