I had the problem of throwing new restoration ac belt on my 67 coupe. the vendor exchanged the belt 3 times i finally gave up and went with an over the counter belt and the problem went away. i know this is not the answer you wanted to get but i wanted to drive the car.

Put the belt on the car, start it and stand on the side of the car and see if the belt in running true. You may need a shim.

Who are you buying the belts from? If not from Quanta check with them to see if your getting the correct belt for your application.

                Brian,

Are there any other manufacturers of these belts besides Quanta?

The belts I recieved have the correct part # on the sleeve and embossed on the belt.

I spoke to Quanta yesterday & they said my problem is probably misaligned pulleys. I don't see it that way. They definitely streched and the A/C belt has a flutter in it after only a short time on the car. We tightened it, but the belt apparently streched enough to fly loose.

The only reason the alternator belt has not come off is that it has more pulley contact that the A/C belt.

Quanta wants me to measure the distance around the pulleys to see what belt might start off smaller. I guess that wiull be my next step.

                Thanks,

                Anthony

                    Anthony,

I had a problem earlier this year with a Quanta alternator belt purchased from Zip Products, for a '68 327/350 w/o air or power steering. The belt, which was the part number for the application, was about an inch and a half too long, even with the alternator moved out to the end of the bracket. All engine and related components are original. I wound up sending the original belt that was on the car back to Quanta, via Zip. Quanta made up a belt to the length of the original. They seemed very willing to deal with the problem and ensure my satisfaction.

I had purchased my Quanta belts from a well known LI supplier, I thought that these belts were stretching beyond the usable adjustment, after talking with Quanta at Corvetted Carlisle they asked that I send them the belts in question. After examination they advised that I was using the incorrect belt for my application, the well known LI supplier said tuff *hit and felt that the belt that they supplied would work just fine. Quanta made good on these belts and I have had no further problems. As far as the well known LI supplier, I'd throw my car away before giving them one more dime. Good luck

Brian, I had a similiar experience with LI yesterday. The belt they listed was too short for my application. I gave her the Napa belt size. The woman answering the phone said I did not know my application. I know from previous posts that their application is wrong. I gave her the size I needed and she informed me they did not use size but application and I need to know what I was working on. She partly covered the phone and yelled to someone that she had someone that did not know what they were talking about. I was not on their 800 line. She was very rude. I final called some one else. I dont like the quality of their parts either. I am with you Brian no more LI. Dale
