What is CRC oil?

I just bought a Snap-On tool for freeing up stuck grease joints that uses light oil or CRC oil. I have never heard of CRC oil. What is this?

Bill,I use a lot of CRC products. Brake clean is one of them. But I never heard of CRC oil. You would think the manufacturer wouldn't specify a brand but instead a type of oil. Like we talk about diesel oil all the time.Specs and not a brand. Better ask the Snap On guy. JD

i use a breakdown oil at work that we inject into water valves to free up the hardened sealing grease. it sounds like the oil you are talking about is used to soften up the old grease at all of the lubricated points. It works great on our valves so i imagine it will work great on all of the joints.

CRC is The Chemical Rubber Company, or at least is used to be.
They make a wide variety of chemical type products one we referred to CRC oil which was a water or moisture displacer/lubricant in a spray can.
I think they are still in business today.

They were still in business a year or so ago. I bought a can of spray lube. Years ago we stocked their whole line in our warehouse. I cant remember all the products but remember a red and white can. dale

CRC is another brand of WD-40. We use it at work. It's cheaper than WD-40 & is sold by most machine shop supply dealers.

Just a note, that WD-40 is kerosene.
