    1967 hood weatherstrip bottons

How far from the curve should the bottons be placed, this is a St. Lu. car.

    Hi Keith,
If the weatherstrip had the pins the holes would already be in the hood. I have seen more original St. Louis cars that only had the pin in one side than on both. My thinking has been that the pin was used to locate the starting point for the weatherstrip on one side of the hood and the precut piece of weatherstrip was glued around the back of the hood and the far side ended where it ran out. When this showed out in the Judging Guide alot of pins got added.
    Regards,

I have only seen them on both sides, when the were there. They are usually just forward of the latch pin.

I have two original 67 Hoods and just checked them both. Niether has any holes where the Pin would go. June build. Al W.

Allan ---- Are they St. Louis or A.O. Smith hoods. IMSM, Smith hoods didn't have the holes or rivets.

OK! I understand. I can't determine where the cars the Hoods came from were produced. Thanks, Al W. (Now, where is my Drill!?). LOL
