    1964 with A/C harness question

    Question on the voltage regulator,headlight and regulator harness, and regulator mounting;
    My regulator is mounted on radiator support,no evidence of it ever being on the inner skirt;the harness to the headlights has a ground wire terminating on the regulator and the harness to the regulator also has a ground wire terminating on the regulator mount; the horn relay is also mounted on the radiator support, above the regulator; is this correct? Anyone have a picture showing the regulator mounting and wiring harness ground connections? Thanks.

    Hi Garth, my AC 64 vin 8477 had the same configuration as yours mounted on the left side of the radiator support and ground wires, hard to see exactly where the ground wires attached but they had to use the regulator bolts. My regulator top cover points towards the radiator, the single plastic regulator 'plug in' also faces the radiator/center of car. Should be some pictures in Nolands book but hard area to see. Yours sounds fine, take lots of disassembly pictures!!!!!!!

    Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

            Dan: after re-reading your post,are you saying that your regulator is mounted on the inner fender skirt and the horn relay mounted on the metal radiator support?thanks

                Garth, my mistake, the relay top faces the radiator, everything mounts on the support, all I have is a low tech old picture, I could try to scau it and email it but the detail would be hard to see.

                        Sure about rad support mount ?

                        First, I know little about '64s, but I notice in Noland's Vol 2 pg. 218, that the AIM wiring drawing for '64 C60 cars is the same as for 1965 MY, and the part # for the engine harness is the same, # 2987814.

                        This pic is of my early '65 C60. Yes, I know it wouldn't judge high as the dust flap is torn and I have incorrect fasteners and grounding locations for certain wires.

                        Ignore the transistorized voltage regulator, as it was part of the K66 transistorized ignition package with air conditioning, which also explains the 3 screw holes in the rad support [for the T.I. amplifier, which I haven't gotten around to (re)install]. Nevertheless, I'm led to believe that the Volt.Reg. for '64 C60 cars should be on the inner fender and not the rad support.

                        The mounting hole patterns are the same for the regular 1119515 dual contact-type voltage reg. as well as the transistorized version AND for the transistorized ignition amplifier. So, theoretically, you could mount the VR where the 3 holes are, but that's not what the AIM shows.

                            Hi Wayne, I emailed Garth a photo of my installation, looks just like yours, I mistakenly said the regulator faced in but meant the relay, both are mounted on the radiator support like yours. The 64, SN 8477 was purchased from orig owner in 79, and was untouched. A nice saddle/saddle car. The license plate is in Nolands book twice, 'PWR CPE' in 64 section and at the end of book. Several pictures were in Nolands book. Sorry for confusion.
