    67 lug nuts

There are 2 listings on E bay Vintage corvette for C-2 lug nuts. One set has a bunch of indentations on the face of the lug nuts. The other set has 3 indentations spaced evenly around the face of the lug nuts. Did they come both ways or is one set wrong. All but one( I have 19) of my lug nuts on my 67 C-2 have the 3 marks on the face. Just courious Dale

Mike, I think I remember reading here several weeks a go that there were several different suppliers of lug nuts back in the day.

Dale, All 20 of the lug nuts on my original '67 have the 3 triangle markings on each of them. I have even seen some lug nuts with RBW markings on them as well as the waffle pattern on midyear Corvettes.

                    dale,
The mark on the outer face is the supplier identification as called out on the original drawing for the part that dates back many years (to the late 1930's).
GM used many thousands of these each day on other models built and had a number of suppliers over the years.

Dale, If the lug nuts on ebay #230194754588 are correct then they are readily available in most junk yards. They are a very common lug nut used up into the late 80's. EX: On my desk I have a set of 20 that are identical to the ones just mentioned and they came from my 86 Lincoln Towncar that's long gone.
When I bought my '63 in '79 it had been sitting since '70. The lug nuts for it are the 3 triangles. The point of the triangle are pointing toward the thread. There are other variations of nuts used in the mid year era for sure. Jorjorian and I have been discussing this for some time.
Anyhow does anyone know if the 201094754588 are correct for midyears. I highly doubt it. But what do I know. I mean I just went to NAPA and bought a set of nice plated wheel nuts and only the spiders can see what's on them behind the wheel covers. I doubt if CC will ever ask us to remove the wheel covers to check them. John
