    c1 bumper crescent

I have come across a pair of bumper crescents like the 57 front bumper crescents however these look like they are diecast in a sand mold. They each weigh 3 pounds 3 ounces. They are very solid and very heavy. Can anyone tell me what year these would be and are they NOS early?

Back in the '70's(?), someone was making them out of brass, since there were no others to be had. You may have found a pair of them.

agree with dave. lots of bronze casting were produced in the 70's as clones for the c-1 parts(53-5 gull wings and the 6" piece just behind a 53-5 door were other examples besides the crecents). they were usually awkard to plate and even worse to install. we're lucky have far better clones nowadays.mike

Bart also made a 53 to 57 grill shell that must have been 50 lbs.
