Re: Do the NCRS Judges actually deduct if they're.

Ted, Good questions. I have a very original 62 which will hit the streets of judging in about a year and already I'm seeing many differences between it and the JG also. Oh what to do? I am going to have my 59 judged this January and would like to have fun in the process. I'll stay open minded but it could get pretty stressful at the same time. My spinners already point to the stems. Roy, don't get stressed about this. It goes along with so many things that can be different about these cars as we all know.

So....judges, what should we do? And how do we notify those not on the forum?

    My 2 cents 2,
    Rich

Re: C1 Hubcap Spinner Orientation - Roy Braatz Myt

This is what it's come to. It's how NCRS says how the Corvettes should look, not as they were from the factory. It's too bad we are taking factory original cars & making them all NCRS cookie cutter judging manual correct to get a near 100% NCRS scores on there Corvette. Is it NCRS's fault or ours for playing the game.As I recall the SACC was started because the old farts in NCRS were upset they started judging midyears. I remember when this was fun.

Re: C1 Hubcap Spinner Orientation - Roy Braatz Myt

Ok, I'll jump back in before supper since no one else has.........

This is how I see it. The JG is really the only thing the judges have to go by. In reality it probably has to be 50,000 pages to cover everything. What we have is the best for now until new information is available and agreed upon. I commend the hard work all those have done on the JG's, don't get me wrong, but I think there needs to be some leniency in decisions the judges make. If a judge just follows the bible with no give, all cars will be the same. Cars wern't built the same. That never happened. I've heard so many stories, here and live with owners and dealers that it's impossible to cover all of the differences in these cars.

Case in point, I also belong to the JCNA for wife's car(Jaguar equivalent to NCRS). They are going through the same dilema. Their judging policy is "as the factory INTENDED to build it".... Period. We've lost points for EXTRA glue on the door frames that's been there since 1972 when the car was built. Here at NCRS we have to ADD glue to the area of the door weatherstrip to make it look "as the factory ACTAULLY built it".... Period. Not to mention a few ashes that flew in and landed on the black carpet while being judged and getting bad marks for cleanliness. They're losing interest in judged cars, and membership, because people are not having fun anymore as judging is getting too stressful and the judges are getting too picky. I know NCRS is working hard to make it fun with family events and good locations near fun places. But for the owner it's sometimes not fun whe he/she knows something was original and gets deductions for it.

So, fun is the question? I'm having fun, but I think it'd be more fun if we get a little break now and then when being judged on things that are questionable.

Bye for now, going out for pizza in the 59.......

              Re: C1 Hubcap argument

Ken! It looks as if I opened a can of worms , first let me put some questions in order.

One: When I was asked to be a judge for 56 to 57 my membership is #182 I was honored to do so but found that the JM indicated most every Corvettes used the same design part back then, When I did judge Corvettes I dint deduct points from a Corvette when seeing a part that was correct when the JM said other wise. Many members back then conform to the JM // they would replace correct parts with wrong parts to get the points. So over the years arguing over the JM I just gave up and started SACE and asked if Noland would be the president to draw people to SACE. ( by the way THEN we were not old farts upset about mid-years or NCRS it's self)

Two; Because both Noland and I "felt" at the time NCRS was turning Corvette in to generic example of each other we put the word out that all hub cap spinners pointed to the air hole , Yes! to see if some one would take that info and add it in the JM.
When it did we then told our members what we did and change back their hub caps .

Three; Today NCRS has come a long way putting out a great but still not a perfect JM as we all know. Nothing can be perfect even the JM but where can any one get better info and each year it gets better. I helped in 05 at the National and still judge the same way I always did. I try to inform owner of the differences and let them decide. If any one lookes at past Straight talk Magazines I put out for 6 years you'll find most articles about correct parts then are now included in the NCRS JM.
Because back then I was out spoken as now, and then started now called SACC, some old and some new members ether like or hate me. And yes I'm now an old fart and never been invited to the new SACC and go to few NCRS meets.

I was aware of the spinner index discussion...

...long before SACK was ever formed. Roy may want to take credit for something they didn't create. If that's the case, so be it. I index my aftermarket kidney bean wheels with bogus 3 ear spinners any way I want - and change the indexing once a month. Now, everyone is doing the same thing...

The wife lost left rear KO in the late 70's, wondered why it was vibrating at only 75. Kept shiney side up. Still got the car and the wife.
