    C-1 cross-over motor mount plate

was going thru all my motor mounts this weekend, trying to find the best one for the 57 i'm currently putting back together. on original 55, 56 and several 57 examples i checked out, there are differnt size holes drilled in the mounts to accomidate the rubber cushion bolts----ie, on the originals, the pass side is drilled to .47" whereas the drivers side is drilled to .81". then i checked a NOS late(cut-out for coolant bypass hose fitting) C-1 mount plate i'd bought in the 70's. its holes were drilled opposite to the 55-57 mount plate.didn't want to take the time to inspect an original 61-2 plate to see if the large hole was on the pass side and small hole on drivers side like the 1970's over the counter NOS plate. anybody got thoughts why the hole size was reversed? thanks, mike

        Laughing......

Logic would suggest to me the small hole should be on the left (driver's side) to better resist engine torque. The washer and biscuit would be less likely to pull through a smaller hole.

That is not to say that different suppliers may have paid no attention to the drawings.

I'll have to inspect some (57's) but I think they are small on left.
