I have a '66 small block which currently has a '65 air cleaner assembly (350-365 HP). I plan to replace it with one for 1966. The choices are either a triple chrome cover, or a flash chrome cover with the difference being only $35. Does anyone have a recommendation on which to go with and why? Any suggestions appreciated.

Re: 1966 Air Cleaner Assembly
I can't say for sure on a 66, but my guess is the flash chrome most likely best resembles the originals. I have the original from my 63 and a triple chrome version. The triple chrome would be purely for cosmetics and would have more eye appeal, but would be considered too nice for typical factory issue. I'm sure someone else can be more specific. If judging points are not the primary goal, the triple chrome would look the best.Tom Hendricks

'66 air cleaner lid
Vito,
I know that Paragon used to sell a flash chromed lid with the correct rolled lip, but the last I heard they were out of stock and Paragon was no longer in possession of the tooling to make more lids. Have you checked with Paragon to see if they are still making them?
