    67 Seat Catch Repair

Hey, has anyone out there restored their seat catches? I see that all the parts are availalble and was just wondering if anyone had done it. How difficult is it and is there are part(s) that tend to fail routinely? Mine catch but don't hold. Thanks.

    Kirk,

I remember having some trouble with my 67 driver seat catch holding, after I redid my seat covers, frames and pads. Didn't buy any new catch parts, just refinished the originals. Lost some points in Ops judging, a few years ago.

As I remember, the culprit was the position of the latch pin on the seat bottom. Gave it a couple of whacks in the right direction. It has been OK since.

Just got done doing all the seats on 2 cars, wasn't to bad, had to cut about 6 hog rings on each seat. Best it you take them apart and then order parts. There is some adjustments to make after you put things back togeather, all and all it was fairly easy.

            Kirk -

The position of the striker on the seat bottom is adjustable - just loosen it and tap it into a more positive location to engage the latch on the seat back, and tighten it back up.
