    Transmission Slip yoke question.

After some investigation I am still unsure if a transmission slip yoke from a 1975 Corvette e/w th-350 auto fits a 1970 27 spline Muncie 4 speed. I'm looking to change the 1975 Corvette to a 4 speed and a quick answer will save me from taking the car apart to find out.

    Thanks

            Bill-----

I was not aware that any 1975 Corvettes ever used a THM-350. I always thought that all 1975's with automatic trans used the THM-400. In any event, the slip yoke for for 64-70 Muncie transmissions is NOT the same as that used for THM-350. The spline count may be the same, but the yoke is otherwise different. The THM-350 Corvette yoke was once known as GM #376747, but it's discontinued. The 4 speed yoke is also discontinued, but available in reproduction.

                Thanks Joe

I've seen Muncie 27 spline yokes on ebay for around $100. I also need to check and see if this car is a TH-350 as I thought. It could very well be a 400. The option code is M40.

M-40 is the code for a THM-400. The THM-350 used RPO code M-38.

The THM-400 output yoke is the same as 71-74 Muncie as well as B-W Super T-10 (used for most, but not all, 1975-81 Corvette 4 speed applications). It is definitely NOT the same as 1970 Muncie (except, possibly, some Muncies used for 1970 Chevelle SS-454).

Joe's right. What else is new.Went threw this a few years back. Should be in the archives

I'll just add that you'll find the difference is in the length of the yokes as they correspond to the longer( 71 and on),and shorter,(70), driveshaft. The 70 style yoke was very diffecult to find in good shape if at all, until recently. They are now reproduced and all the venders sell them by now

The main reason that Corvette transmission yokes are hard-to-find is they are Corvette-only pieces. They are not used on other GM cars or trucks. This is true for all 53-82 Corvette transmission yokes. If there are any exceptions in which a Corvette yoke is used for another application, I'm not aware of it.
