    Re: c2 repro bumpers

Some repro bumpers are made of thinner material than originals. Don't know where they came from (vendor[s]) Judges look for this.....

I've been told that the repo's are very difficult to install. If possible I would always have the ones on the car repaired and re-dipped.

I bought some repro bumpers for my 66 4 years ago. They fit OK at best. This car has never seen rain since restored and the bumpers already need rechromed. I would repair the originals if possible.

where that the $300 ones or the $525 they offer 2 types foreign made and usa made

looking at the price there must be a quality difference ? i guess

maybe it is better to recrome my originals
but the two rear bumper are quite wavy on the top or is this typical ??

                Sander,

They were the $300 ones. I did buy a new set from ecklers recently but have not installed them on yet. I bought those for around $500 each. I only bought those because the car (another 66) had no bumpers with it at all. The ecklers rep said they were triple chromed and the $300 were not. If I get them installed soon I'll let you know how they fit. Jeff

                        The waviness is somewhat typical

                        Sander,

The waviness is somewhat typical of original mid year bumpers, especially the rears. If you have them rechromed, the best way to go in my opinion, ask the chromers to leave them sharp edged and wavy. Pauls chrome is one of the best so I've heard on this board.
