2 Questions and Congrats!

In looking over my last issue Restorer again, I noticed a couple things in the National Awards listing, by Roy Sinor, that I would like to have re-explained.

One hapless gentleman was suspended, twice, for 2 midyear entries. What can cause this, and what is the penalty. I've heard of this unfortunate happenstance, but don't recall actually seeing it, in print, with names. Ouch!

What is the "red hat" award? I think I recall that this is a brand new recognition. What are the prerequisites for this?

The "Red Hat" award recognizes those Master Judges who have taken their own car up the judging ladder and achieved either the Duntov, McLellan, or Bowtie award.

I'm not familiar with the particular instance you mentioned, but the 13-month suspension is generally related to an owner driving his car off the judging field before judging is complete (usually in a "huff" ).

We drove our 55 to the 05 National meet and each day we drove the 55 off the judging field to go eat or sight see , because the judges knew we drove there and it was our only way to get around they O.K.'d it ( we also had an easy way in and out of the field.) For drivers you only have to ask NCRS and they were good about it.They even liked out tear drop trailer we pull and put a pic. in there Mag. This pic is at a trailer car show.

Now the fog is lifting . This IS, a brand-new award. I now remember reading it, not very long ago, and thinking (to myself: Why do people say "thinking to myself?")..........golly, gee, holy cow! What a great idea! So, whenever you see a judge approaching your entry, wearing a red hat, then you can think (to yourself) "Walk a mile in my shoes".
How the heck could he have driven his 2 entries away with that "bumper-to-bumper" parking config in the Convention Center!? Maybe he airlifted them outta there!? Just kidding, John.............I can kinda' visualize what might have happened. Wonder iffen AL G was involved?

Is that a 100 points or 10 judging level or 100 judging level which is 1,000 points?
