Greg, My cadmium plater bakes most all the bolts, washers and springs within 20 minutes after they are dipped. He charges me 25-35 bucks extra for this service. I believe he bakes the stuff at 375 for about 3 hours. But he may bake it longer.
My old plater didn't bake the stuff and the springs used to break into a million pieces. So did the washers.You would tighten up a screw and all at once ping. It was really aggravating,dangerous and the pits.

Your life can depend on some of these bolts you know just as Joe Lucia said. Cad plating is still cheap to do. The more you give them the cheaper it is. Ohio is big on cad platers but my state of PA is not. Most of them are history in PA. John D.

Aero Propeller, outside Denver, does anti-hydrogen embrittlement post-plating services for no extra charge. Since they're an FAA certified shop (propellers) and they cater to the aerospace industry (Ball Aerospace, Martin Marietta), they turn jobs quickly and professionally.

Parts are NOT lost, as each job through the shop is photographed piece by piece before/after with records on file to comply with FAA audit requirements. They ONLY do cad plating and DO cater to the antique auto crowd since it helps defray their overhead. This is not your typical 'bucket' shop run by minimum wage 'Bozos', but you wouldn't know it from the prices they charge!
