    66 coup sound deadener instalation

I have a 66 A/C coup project and I want to replace the sound deadener under the dash as the old deadener is "dead" and flaking off. I have purchased the deadener from CC but need to glue it in place. Any recommendations for an adhesive. I have a recommendation for a spray on product from 3M but have been told that it is very adhesive and once down it is stuck in place. no readjusting as you go. My problem is that the dash is still in place as is the windshield wiper mechanism so I sort of need to force it in place and then have the glue set. Any ideas? oh yea - the heater assembly, A/C ducts, radio, guage assembly, steering wheel, radio speaker, glove box have all been removed already. I would prefer not to remove the windshield wiper assembly if at all possible. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have a recomendation re glue, but the windshield wiper transmission is not all that bad to remove and re-install. Remove that funny clip off the motor crank and they slide off. Won't solve the problem with the glue but will make the job easier.

I have not done what you're attempting, but I have used Krylon contact adhesive spray for 'paper on paper' and it worked great. It's like a thin layer of rubber cement and could be re-postitioned. Over time it may lose its adhesiveness and you may have to tack critical areas with stronger stuff. You may want to pick up a can and try it. Use it in a well ventillated area away from your car or you might start having flashbacks to the 60s and you don't want the mist anywhere near your paint!

Go with the 3M product. And removal of the Wiper Assembly is not all that necessary. The Engine Heat tends to go under the car so thats where you need to Focus. Do remember to pull down the Headliner and put Insulation up there. Trial Fit everything and the Job will go smoothly. Al W

Bud - I give up - how do you get that clip off. I'm afraid to just jam a screwdriver under it and pressure it - might break - do you know how it goes on and comes off. I agree - if it was off it would be a lot easier.
                Thanks,
