Final monthly serial numbers and body build date

I have a 1966 Corvette serial # 104005 with a body build date code tag that is D19. The Body # is A-2282. The D19 indicates a November 19, 1965 body build date but according to Page 9 of the NCRS 1966 technical information & judging guide the final monthly serial number in October was 104384 indicating my car should have been built in October 1965 a month earlier than the body build date. Could someone explain this discrepancy? Thanks

Charles, From the AOS body number, I assume the car is a convertible. Looks like the Serial Number or Trim Tag was changed at some point. A 1966 convertible body, with that Trim Tag, should be around serial number 107245, built in early Dec/1965. The serial number of 104005 is over 3200 cars, before the body was even built, that is quite a stretch, IMO. Dave

        Hi Charles,
I agree with Dave. Either the the vin or trim tag has been changed. The closest trim tag I have seen to yours was D19, Body A-2271, and the vin was 194676s107233. I would try and verify the vin #4005 on the frame. Hopefully someone only changed the trim tag. The body build to body number makes the trim tag you have on your car seem to be an original tag hopefully just on the wrong car.

DOES your car have an AOS body? *NM*
