When I took my '55 apart, there were no "J" nuts on the body where the headlight buckets attach to the body. Looking at the '56 AIM, J nuts are used. My car was taken apart before, so I'm not sure if J nuts are used, I can't find reference to their use.
The headlight bucket mounts to the body with sheet metal type screws. No J nuts. There is a black rubber body gasket that goes between the steel slant back bucket and the body. No J nuts used until 56, as far as I have ever seen.
