    Heater box restoration

I have just finished my heater box rehab (see pic below) and I have a few questions.

I have heard that there are some "fitment issues" with the new boxes , and I agree that they are tight , but I tried it and I can get it in . Is there some issue with it other than the replacement issue that will occur later on down the road?

Secondly ,I have found in the archives that many have had their old Harrison boxes taken apart and rewelded the top and bottom to the new core for a better fit. Is this only for a better fit, or does it also make sense for Judging points? As you can see from the picture, the new replacement is copper looking While the Harrison is definately brass looking and "gold cad plated" as well.
I would think that any judge could see that difference !

Still trying to have as much fun as Jerry,

    Jim

      PUSHED THE BUTTON 2 QUICK

the problem i've run into on c2 and c3 is the curvature of the tubes---they are bent towards the pass fender at a greater angle and from the straight of the tube to the bend is too shorter than factory---which causes a fitment problem with the plenum on the engine side of the fire wall---that is why i have the harrison ends swapped over---long story short use the harrison ends you should be able to do a heater core for under $70.00 and it will fit correctly---good luck phil

        Phil,

I see ! Thanks for the heads up.You saved me a lot of hassle down the road !

Mine may be a few more bucks , the intake tube has worked its way lose and shows signs of past leaking. So Other than a few more minutes spent on welding ,I see no reason why it won't work just as well.
