How many belts does a 1965 327/350hp have (no A/C and no PS)? Mine has 2-groove pully's on the crank and water pump pulley and a small tension pulley. Is all this used or is there only one belt for the alternator and water pump? Thanks!

Re: alternator/water pump belt question
Jeff,
There should be two belts, one for the water pump and crankshaft that uses the tensioner (first groove next to engine), then water pump, crankshaft and alternator on the second groove (closest to radiator). The alternator pulley should incorporate a spacer that when mounted allows the belt to align to the second groove on the crank/water pump pulleys. Also, alternator is mounted on the right (passenger) side of the engine.- Top

Re: alternator/water pump belt question
I dont have a "correct" alternator, just a replacement from NAPA. Will the correct spacer/pulley fit on my alternator? Or does the correct alternator have a longer shaft to fit this pulley/spacer? Thanks!- Top

Re: alternator/water pump belt question
Jeff,
I think the replacement alternator will work just fine with the 350HP spacer pulley I described. Low HP Corvettes used the same arrangement but the pulley is smaller diameter so be careful to get the correct 350HP part if you are ordering.- Top
