    Part number - 1970

Can anyone help me out and tell me what the correct part number is for a NOS GM 1970 woodgrain console insert for a non-AC car?

There are a few on the auction website... part numbers are 3964123 and 3964126.

I am assuming one is for an air car and one is for a non air car, but my web searches have brought up conflicting results on which is which.

    Thank you!

I would be very wary of buying the woodgrain inserts. The woodgrain overlay had a very nasty habit of buckling still in the wrapper. I threw many away several years ago for that problem

      Thanks for the tip.

I thought there maybe issue with that type of item being so old... but with reading how the repro's aren't all that great, I thought it might be worth it.

I guess you kind of roll the dice if you buy one, eh?

I don't know what date you are looking at for these NOS inserts. (Joe can tell us I am sure) But somewhere by the early 1980s (and maybe before), the service replacements from GM were vinyl not wood. I have not yet found a correct repro for the wood ones.

Remember reading here some time ago or someplace else that someone was making these using real wood.

              Reba and Kevin-----

I don't know exactly when they changed from wood to vinyl. However, I can tell that from at least early 1986, they are vinyl. So, if the dates on the ones that Kevin is looking at are 1986 or later, I can guarantee they won't be wood. Actually, I think that the real wood pieces ended WAY earlier.
