I posted yesterday regarding coil and ballast resistor connectors; I got that question resolved; in the mean time other questions arose regarding wire insulation colors; the 1964 AIM shows wires to/from the ballast resistor and the two wires connected together at the coil as being pink but the wiring diagram in the shop manual shows those same wires as being black with a pink tracer;does anyone know which is correct? Thanks.

Re: Another wiring question
OK, here's the history, 63 engine wiring used all solid color wires except for the 130 resistance wire (black/pink srtipe) and the wiper ground (Black'white stripe) for reference this drawing was inactivated on 5/65, so NOS editions are likely nonexistant (part number 2982838). '64 part number 2983579 used the resistance wire as '63 black, with pink single stripe, the 106 circuit (horn relay) was Black with a double white stripe, and the 3A, 3B, 52 and 119 circuits all carried a single stripe configuration. This drawing was changed on May 1 of 1965 to remove the stripe requirement for the 3A, 3B, 52, 119 circuits, so again, accurate NOS examples would be rare birds indeed. The '65 engine wiring (2989479) featured striped wires on the resistance wire (pink str), as well as white stripes on the 119 and 106 circuits, and an orange stripe (on Black cable) for the 52 circuit, (heater). The 3 circuit, pink in '64 was changed to Black with pink stripe also for '65.Bill Clupper #618- Top
