    Rear strut rods

Are the rear strut rods on my 73 BB suposed to be natural or painted black?
and since I'm here are the shock mounts natural or painted?
    Thanks, Jay

Strut rods are an "as forged" finish, and very difficult to duplicate. The shock mounts are cad/zinc plated

Jay, I am sure that the judging manual for your car will address this fact so I will only give you what is in my 70-72 manual. It states that the "original finish of the strut rods is blue-grey from the hot forging operation, however, both plack painted and natural examples are seen. The black may be part of the undercarriage black-out operation." Perhaps a small donation to the Corvette store at www.ncrs.org for an appropriate judging manual will clear this issue up.
