    Note that the front license mount and frame are different objects, however in 1972 ALL Corvettes got both. What dealers did with them is another matter -- they left the factory with a front license mount installed and two license plate frames in the rear compartment -- along with license attaching hardware for two plates (or tags as they are known in some locations).

      I would like to add that the front face plate has two off-white plastic
      mounting nuts attached in the top portion of the face plate. Also the
      original rubber bumper size at the bottom of the face plate is a different
      diameter than the replacement rubber.
      I had the unusual experience at the past judging event when one of the judges
      told me to throw away my reproduction face plate and find an original in
      a swap meet. I was happy to say to myself that the one on the car was the
      original face plate. I am the original owner 1972. I just cleaned it up etc
      very well. The joke was on him.....Also if I recall they also commented
      that the plate should have 4 mounting nuts. My picture from 1972 the same
      month that I bought the car clearly shows only two top nuts...There U GO.
