    VIN plate finish

I had to remove my vin to restore the windshiel frame. I noticed that it is plated or painted on both sides and wonder what the correct proceedure is to restore it and if the rivets should be painted.
    Thanks
    Don

It was installed and than blackout was applied to the entire window frame assembly and baked.

        Tom,
I thought the black out went on after the body color was baked.

My recollections when I was interviewing/corresponding with plant engineer was that blackout was also subjected to the bake cycle. But than that was in later years which was subject of discussions.

No sleding. It is asleep for the winter.

I didn't notice that a year for the car in question was mentioned in the thread.

Bake before blackout would be my expectation as well...It doesn't seem like they would take a chance on damaging that fresh color application by working around it with gun and hose before it was hard cured, BWDIK.

Blackout operations were performed prior to the final color oven, after the 140*F color pre-bake oven.
