The wing nuts used for 1964-1972 were the same part number. As far as I know, they are all pretty much the same. But, who knows, there may be some nuance of difference over the years. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 63-67 vs 68-72 Air Cleaner wing nuts
Hi Keith:
For the C2 years, there are at least two distinct styles that seem to be generally accepted as correct, and there is a third style that some people argue is also correct. The main difference among the three styles is visible in the side view, and relates to the profile of the ears.
On the two generally accepted styles, the inside edges of the ears lean back when viewed from the side. One of the styles leans back a lot more than the other. On the third style, the inside edges curve in toward the center.
For all three styles, the metal is generally in the range of 55 to 65 mils thick, which is somewhat less than the current reproductions. In addition, for all three styles, the two sides of each ear are "open" when viewed from the top, while the current reproductions have them bent in slightly.
I realize that this description is rather hard to understand. If you want, I can try to take a photo and post it. I'll have to dig around to see if I have examples of each style.- Top
