as the st-12 and joe calcagno's old Restorer articles suggest, load on the worm gear bearings and sector drag needs to be measured with a scale. the measurements are in the range of 1/2 to 2 lbs. most old fashioned fish scales read from one to fity lbs so getting accurate readings with and old timer is hit and miss. i went on ebay and bought a digital fish scale that reads in hundreds of a pound for about 10 bucks. haven't got it yet but will follow-up with its accuracy and ability to measure 1/2 to 2 lbs . mikie

In that range you'd be better off
with a trigger scale, typically 0-10 pounds.

Re: c-1 nsteering gear rebuile/adjustment
Hi Mike, I got a 'Chatillon' scale on Ebay, it is a simple push/pull rod with scale of 0 to 2 Lbs also marked 0 to 32 ozs. It was cheap too!1964 Red FI Coupe, DUNTOV '09
