Bill, I'm not near my files, and won't be until April, so I'm talking off the top of my head..............and we all know I shouldn't do that, but, what the hell.

I'm reasonably sure that, that particular set of GM show cars (internally know as Design Concepts) were created from the same directive. As I recall, EACH passenger car division was to create its own Styling vehicle, and each procured one Corvette to use as the chassis/starting point.

        Art,

These cars have been "in the light" for about 20 years, minimum, as that's how long ago I first knew of them and saw at least the bronze Bonneville. If GM isn't going after the guys who bought the crushed ZR-1s in England, it's not about to go after the guy who pulled these out of the old junkyard north of Detroit. I suspect that losing the case for CERV-1 and CERV-2 has dampened any enthusiasm GM had for getting these cars back.

After all, GM wanted to get rid of them. If they want them now, I suspect they'd just have to pay like anyone else. Of course, then they'd hide them in some basement again, so ....

There are two of the Bonneville cars, one currently owned for many years by Joe Bortz. The other was sold in 2006, and of course we all know the Olds was purchased by the guy in the Ferrari cap at B-J about 2 years ago.

Here's the Oldsmobile version (the "Super 88"); I shot this at Sebring in 1957.

john: was the dual headlight Olds you've shown the same one that was gold and single headlights in 54? or was it a later version of the olds? mike

                                Mike -

I'm pretty sure it was a later version; here's a shot of the interior (kinda dark) Note the Halda SpeedPilot - probably a Curta Calculator buried in there somewhere too.
