C3 Rear Deck Grille Painting

I'm in the process of painting my 69 coupe its original Can-Am white and am wondering how to finish the ventilation area below the grilles on the rear deck. Should this area be blacked-out? Semi-gloss? other?

Yes, same black out as under the hood. There is a picture in the TIM&JG that shows the pattern left by the mask they used.

These should help you:



Paint the whole car white, then blackout the area under where your grilles are going to go.

I would say that some of the blackout may have came off over the years in Patrick's posted picures or it is on the light end on blackout. I have seen better coverage on some original cars so I think you should try to look at some more examples.

My car also received a fair amount of "repair line" yellow touch up at St. Louis, so it would not surprise me if yellow is on black is on yellow. Original variation, if you will.
